JUNCTION CITY, Kan. – The Geary County Schools USD 475 communications department received three state awards from the Kansas School Public Relations Association, including one “Award of Excellence” accolade for its efforts in telling the stories and accomplishments of USD 475’s students and staff during the 2024-25 school year.
The KanSPRA’s Publications Awards recognize outstanding tactical materials such as publications, newsletters, photos, videos, websites, social media and more.
The USD 475 communications department, consisting of Matt Hoover, Ethan Melton and Margie Pinaire, took home the following awards:
• 2025 KanSPRA Award of Excellence in Social Media – Friday Night Signing Day
• 2025 KanSPRA Award of Honorable Mention – Classroom Joy Photo
• 2025 KanSPRA Award of Honorable Mention – Dreams Can Come True Story
During the summer of 2025, the communications department received five national awards from the National School Public Relations Association, including one "Award of Excellence", three “Awards of Merit” and one "Award of Honorable Mention" honors.

The USD 475 communications department, which consists of Matt Hoover, USD 475 Communications Coordinator, and Ethan Melton, USD 475 Media Specialist, took home the following awards:

• 2024 KanSPRA Award of Excellence in Social Media – Alumni Spotlight Social Media Series
• 2024 KanSPRA Award of Merit – Back-To-School Photo
