The communications department oversees all district branding and logo usage. USD 475 strives for its brand to convey professionalism and competency to our families, community members and other partners, while also establishing trust and credibility among our stakeholders, which is especially important in a community with high transience.

USD 475 communications pieces should be recognizable as such by the branding, even pieces from individual schools.

The use of district images should be approved by communications. Branding must follow the district guidelines. School and district logos can be obtained by request for items such as district programs, events, and school/district-sanctioned promo items. • Board policy prohibits the discussion of complaints against specific District employees during an open forum. Since Facebook is considered an online open forum, those who violate that policy are subject to getting their comments removed.

• Photographs may not be posted, except by a site administrator.

• Media personnel seeking requests or responses to questions are asked to refrain from submitting questions as comments and send questions to the USD 475 Communications Department through the normal channels.

• USD 475 reserves the right to block users from posting on this page if they repeatedly violate our guidelines.

• USD 475 reserves the right to restrict any comments to prevent the spread of misinformation related to school safety.

• USD 475 reserves the right to change the Terms of Use policy at any time without prior notification.

Information sent to Geary County Schools families comes either from an individual school or via the communications office. These messages are sent via email, text and phone call using the district’s Skyward information system or ParentSquare. It is important to keep your contact information up-to-date so that messages are received.

Geary County Schools USD 475 is proud to announce that it has partnered with ParentSquare for the 2025-26 school year to deliver all district and school level communication.

ParentSquare is designed to keep parents informed and make communicating easy. It is an easy-to-use communication tool that combines multiple communication streams into one easy-to-use app for families and staff. It provides a safe method for principals, teachers, staff and parents/guardians to communicate and share information through email, text and phone messages.

We encourage everyone throughout the district to activate their ParentSquare account to take full advantage of this tool. Even without an account, all families will receive messages to their email address and phone number. But an activated account makes communication even easier and gives parents the ability to customize how they receive messages. We also encourage users to download the free ParentSquare app in the Apple Store and Google Play.

JUNCTION CITY, Kan. – The Geary County Schools USD 475 communications department recently received five national awards from the National School Public Relations Association, including one "Award of Excellence" and three “Awards of Merit” honors for its efforts in telling the stories and accomplishments of USD 475’s students and staff during the 2024-25 school year. 

The NSPRA’s Publications and Digital Media Excellence Awards recognize outstanding tactical materials such as publications, newsletters, videos, podcasts, websites, social media and more.

The USD 475 communications department, consisting of Matt Hoover, Ethan Melton and Margie Pinaire, took home the following awards:
