Communications and Marketing

The communications department promotes Geary County Schools USD 475. It also informs its students, faculty, staff, stakeholders and community members about district activities and achievements.

This department publishes the district’s marketing and promotional materials, while also maintaining the district’s website and social media. It is also the media and public relations arm of USD 475, publishing district news, working with news media outlets and facilitating award-winning programs and parent engagement activities.

Effective July 1, 2026, USD 475 implemented changes to its communication practices to comply with HB 2299 Cell Phone and Social Media Communication Bill. As required by HB2299, our school board adopted policies and procedures prohibiting district employees from the following.

Two-Way Communication
For the purposes of two-way communication between staff and students, including both direct messaging and group messaging, ParentSquare, Skyward, StudentSquare and district email accounts are approved methods.

One-Way Communication
For the purposes of one-way communication, the following social media platforms are allowed to be used by staff for official district and/or school use: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and X (formerly Twitter).
