The Communications department promotes USD 475 Geary County Schools and informs its students, faculty, staff, stakeholders and community members about district activities and achievements. This department publishes the district’s marketing and promotional materials, maintains the district’s website, and oversees district-wide social media. It is also the media and public relations arm of USD 475, publishing district news, working with news media outlets and facilitating award programs and parent engagement activities.

Image, Style, and Branding

Communications oversees district branding. USD 475 strives for its brand to convey professionalism and competency to our families, community members and other partners, and establish trust and credibility among our stakeholders, which especially important in a community with high transience. USD 475 communications pieces should be recognizable as such by the branding, even pieces from individual schools.

The Communications department oversees district logo usage. The use of district images should be approved by Communications. Branding must follow the district guidelines. School and district logos can be obtained by request for items such as district programs, events, and school/district-sanctioned promo items. For more information, contact Communications.

Receiving Communications from USD 475

Information sent to Geary County Schools families comes from the individual school or the main district communications team. These messages are sent via email, text, phone call and postal mail using the district’s Skyward information system. It is important to keep contact information up-to-date so that messages are received.

The communications coordinator coordinates district-wide communications, public information services and marketing activities. This position assists with school and community relations and helps plan district and community programs and events. This role also includes participation in emergency operations planning and crisis mitigation programs.
