JUNCTION CITY, Kan. – The Geary County Schools USD 475 communications department received three national awards on Wednesday from the National School Public Relations Association, including two "Awards of Excellence" and one “Award of Merit” honors for its efforts in telling the stories and accomplishments of USD 475’s students and staff during the 2025-26 school year.
The NSPRA’s Publications and Digital Media Excellence Awards recognize outstanding tactical materials such as publications, newsletters, videos, podcasts, websites, social media and more.
The USD 475 communications department, consisting of Matt Hoover and Ethan Melton took home the following awards:
• 2026 NSPRA Award of Excellence - Pregame Pageantry on Military Appreciation Night
• 2026 NSPRA Award of Excellence - Celebrating 150 Years of Graduates
• 2026 NSPRA Award of Merit - Capriotti Making a Difference at H.D. Karns
USD 475's work will be honored on the NSPRA website and during the Annual Meeting and Celebration of Achievement at the NSPRA 2026 National Seminar on Sunday, July 19 in New Orleans.

The USD 475 communications department, which is led by Matt Hoover, Communications Coordinator, took home the following awards:

• 2024 NSPRA Award of Merit – Alumni Spotlight Social Media Series
• 2024 NSPRA Honorable Mention – Back-To-School Photo
• 2024 NSPRA Honorable Mention – Assembly Excitement Photo
Hoover’s work will be honored on the NSPRA website and during the Annual Meeting and Celebration of Achievement at the NSPRA 2024 National Seminar on Sunday, July 14 in Bellevue, Washington.
