Kristy Haden
Kristy Haden and family moved to Junction City in 2014 and have two young children in the school district. She is the Office Manager at Jim Clark Chevrolet, and is also a State and Nationally Certified Emergency Medical Technician. In her free time, she enjoys watching her children participate in activities like softball, baseball, soccer, taekwondo, and many other interests. When the weather is nice you will find her and her family at the lake with friends enjoying the sunshine. Kristy is proud to call Junction City home for her family and looks forward to continuing to make this the best school district and community for all.
Vice President
Beth Hudson
Dr. Beth Hudson began working for Geary County Schools as a bookkeeper at Junction City High School, earning her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 1985. Since then, Dr. Hudson worked as a first-grade teacher at Jefferson, Ware, and Eisenhower Elementary School, an assistant principal at Ware Elementary School, director of elementary education, associate superintendent, and interim superintendent before retiring. She and her husband have been residents of Geary County for over 40 years. As a Board member, Dr. Hudson hopes to help strengthen Geary County Schools' legacy as a leader in education, ensuring relationships across the district are built on mutual trust and understanding.

Ron Johnson
Ron Johnson grew up in Junction City and graduated from JCHS. He has 3 children attending school within the district. During the day, Ron can be found at the Jim Clark Auto Center, where he has been a sales consultant for several years.
Anwar Khoury
Member of the USD 475 since 2007. Obstetrician/ Gynecologist in Junction City since 1996. Father of five children who attended USD 475.
Mark Hatcher
Mark Hatcher has been the lead pastor at Junction City Church of Nazarene since October of 2017. He and his wife, Amy, have been married 23 years and have four children, all of which attend Geary County Schools. Hatcher's church supported Franklin Elementary School in the past, and now supports Washington Elementary School. Hatcher's main goals as a Board member are to ensure district staff knows they are valued, respected, listened to, and fully supported, thus helping boost morale, and to be a voice for them, the students, and the community.
Jason Butler
Dr. Jason Butler is a graduate of Eisenhower Elementary School, Junction City Middle School, and Junction City High School, Class of 2004. He and his wife, Casey, have three daughters who attend Geary County Schools. Dr. Butler is a family medicine physician at Stormont Vail, previously working as the Director of Medical Services at Irwin Army Community Hospital and deploying with the 1st Infantry Division, 2nd Brigade, 299 BSB for nine months to Skwierzyna, Poland as the battalion surgeon during Operation Atlantic Resolve. As a Board member, Dr. Butler hopes to provide proactive rather than reactive leadership by evaluating and improving school lunches, focusing on teacher retention and recruitment, as well as continually working with the local medical community and health department.
Tom Brungardt
Tom Brungart is a retired history and government educator who brings a wealth of experience to the USD 475 Board of Education as he has served as a member of the board during two terms.
Brungart has also served on several associations during his tenure, including the Junction City Education Association, Kansas National Education Association and National Education Association.

Gerald Nunziato
Colonel Gerald “Jerry” Nunziato, Jr commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps at Youngstown State University in 2000. He served as an Armor and Signal Corps Officer before transitioning to a Special Operations Civil Affairs Officer in 2007.
COL Nunziato has held numerous leadership positions at every level, ranging from Platoon Leader through Deputy Brigade Command, serving in a wide spectrum of assignments from tactical to strategic level commands. His career has spanned both conventional and special operations, with joint assignments in NATO and JSOC. His overseas assignments include South Korea and Turkey, with multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Jerry’s education includes a Bachelor Science in Civil Engineering and graduate degrees from the University of Maryland Global Campus (M.A. Management) and the National Defense University’s College of International Security Affairs (M.A. Strategic Security Studies, with a focus on Irregular Warfare). His military education includes the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center (USJFKSWC) Regional Studies Course - Africa, USJFKSWC Unconventional Warfare Design, and French language training. He is also a graduate of the Static Line Jumpmaster Course.
COL Nunziato’s awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Combat Action Badge, and Senior Parachutist Badge. He has also been recognized as a Distinguished Member of the 502nd Infantry Regiment.
John Adkerson
CSM John T. Adkerson is a native of Georgia and he enlisted in the Army in October 2004 as a Combat Engineer. He attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
CSM Adkerson has served in every leadership position from team leader to 1SG. His most current assignment was as the Division Engineer SGM for the 82nd Airborne Division.
CSM Adkerson’s previous assignments include Fort Liberty, North Carolina, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Fort Stewart, Georgia, and Fort Bliss, Texas. He has deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq, Haiti, Ukraine, and Poland in support of combat, disaster relief, and training operations.
CSM Adkerson’s military education includes Airborne School, Ranger School, Basic Leader Course, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, Jumpmaster School, Advanced Leaders Course, Sapper Leader Course, Combat Life Savers Course, Urban Mobility Breaching Course, Route Recon and Clearance Leadership Course, Senior Leader Course, Pathfinder Course, Army Basic Instructor Course, Mountain Warfare School (summer), and the Sergeants Major Academy. His civilian education includes a High School Diploma from Sevier County High School, an Associates of Arts from Grantham University, and a Bachelor of Arts from American Military University.
CSM Adkerson’s Military Awards and Decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal (4th Award), Army Commendation Medal (6th Award), Army Achievement Medal (3rd Award), Combat Action Badge, Sapper Tab, Ranger Tab, Pathfinder Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, and Irish Jump Wings. He has also been awarded the Bronze de'Fleury and the Sergeant Audie Murphy Award.
