Objective: To explore emerging technologies that can provide the learning environment with mobile tools for learning.

Participants:  District Staff     Class Maximum:  16     Class Minimum:  10

Description:  Students will learn and explore the real world through wireless connections. Hands-on learning will include TI navigators, palms, tablet pcs, and laptops in and out of the classroom. Round table discussions will be held with expert presenters. Online testing practices will also be addressed."   Discussion will include how state online testing preparation and participation was completed - wired and wireless access.

Objective:  To learn Microsoft® Movie Maker - working with video, digital sound, music, and images..

Description: Participants will create and edit movies right on your computer. Learn how to share your movie via the Web, e-mail, or CD. Using third-party software you can  take movies you've made and turn them into DVDs.  You can also save your movie back to the video tape in your camera to play back on a TV or on the camera itself.  Movie Maker is a free software program available with Microsoft®.

USD 475 Tech_Know Block - PDC

Web Development LE (Light Edition) – PDC

Dates:  August 1 – June 30
      By appointment only with Instructional Technologists

PDC Points: varies up to 100 points                                Point Area:  1

Objective:  Participants will develop skills and strategies for integrating technology into their existing curriculum in effective and creative ways.

Description:  The TechKnow Block provides a myriad of learning opportunities in discovering effective use of technology tools. Participants enrolled in this year-long block can select various workshops and will work with the IT specialists to design and configure individualized learning opportunities. Highly interactive - small group and one-on-one sessions included - flexible scheduling. Discussion will include how the projects align to district and state curriculum, and technology standards.

TechKnow Block: Using Curriculum-Specific Technology Tools (Outlook, Notebook Training, Mobile Lab Training, TI Navigator Training, Palm Project, 6-Trait Writing, Lab Pack Software Computer Lab Instruction, SASIxp, Gradebook, Computerized CRTs, Inspiration/  Kidspiration, Map Machine, Cognitive Tutor, AR, STAR, ACT Discovery, Use of Projection Devices, SmartBoard®, etc.)

:  To create and publish web pages with templates to communicate effectively with students and parents.

Description: Participants will learn the basic skills necessary to use templates for developing web pages.   Participants will learn how to easily produce web pages to facilitate communication with their students, parents, and community.  The District Guidelines and Procedures for Web Page Development will also be reviewed.
