Schools research as a guide for its

describes the eleven quality criteria necessary
for state accreditation. The
components of Effective Schools include:
-
Strong instructional leadership
-
Clear and focused school missions
-
Emphasis on basic skills
-
High teachers expectations for
student success
-
Frequent monitoring of student
progress
-
Emphasis on a safe and orderly
educational environment
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
USD 475 is committed to providing staff with the
skills, opportunity and resources necessary to
grow professionally. The ongoing professional
development of all staff and its professional
development program is a hallmark of the
district. The commitment includes eight days
dedicated to professional development that occur
during the school year. Professional
development at the district and building level
is often provided by nationally recognized
consultants and trainers.
Staff may also
take advantage of professional development
opportunities that support their individual
professional development plans. Opportunities
include training in Cooperative Learning,
Teacher Expectations and Student Achievement (TESA),
6-Trait Writing and other effective teaching
