Dr. Reginald Eggleston

Dr. Reginald Eggleston currently serves as the Superintendent of Geary County Schools USD 475, Junction City, KS.  He supervises 18 schools and is responsible for the academic and social emotional learning for over 7,000 students.  Prior to this position he served as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) over state intervention for the Alabama State Department of Education.  Dr. Eggleston has been a Special Education teacher, assistant principal, high school principal, Director of Special Education and Student Services, and assistant superintendent over Federal and Special Programs and Schools.  He has over 28 years of experience in public education.

Dr. Eggleston is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserves with 31 years of military experience.  He has served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn.  He currently serves as the Deputy Commanding Officer (DCO) for 1st “Frontier” Brigade (PD), 104th Training Division (LT), Aurora, CO.    

Dr. Eggleston earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism at Troy State University. A Master’s Degree in Special Education at The University of Alabama in Birmingham, an Educational Specialist Degree in Administration at Auburn University in Montgomery, and a Doctor of Education at Nova Southeastern University.  Dr. Eggleston graduated from the Alabama Superintendent’s Preparation Program in 2005 and has completed numerous leadership programs at Harvard University.

Dr. Eggleston has completed the following military schools and courses: Quartermaster Basic Course, Transportation Advanced Course, Combined Arms Exercise Course, Support Operations, Contracting Representative Course, Airborne School, The Joint Logistics Course, The Reserve Component National Security Course (RCNSC), Command and General Staff College Intermediate Level Education (ILE) and Advance Operations Course (AOC). Dr. Eggleston’s military awards and decorations include: the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (with 2 Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (with 2 Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal (with Silver Hourglass and “M” Device), Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary, Army Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Staff Identification Badge, Parachutist Badge.

Dr. Eggleston graduated from the Alabama Superintendent’s Preparation Program in 2005 and has completed numerous leadership programs at Harvard University. Dr. Eggleston and his wife Regina reside in Fort Riley, KS.

Welcome to USD 475!

First, I want to say that I am grateful for the opportunity to serve our students, their families, and our community. I believe in the work that we are doing and am looking forward to continuing and improving our efforts each day.

In an act to initiate honest and productive discussions with all levels of Geary County Schools and the surrounding communities, we will continue to work off a framework from which to base our success. This framework will be the foundation that guides the overall plan, focusing on six goals:
