Curriculum

Head Start's adopted curriculum is the Creative Curriculum.  This curriculum promotes and enhances your child's growth and development in the following areas:

●  Physical growth such as running, jumping, walking a balance beam, writing their letters in their name, stringing beads, and putting puzzles together.
●  Cognitive growth such as counting with objects, classifying objects and comparing objects and measures.
●  Social development in this area looks at how your child adjusts to new situations, takes responsibility for themselves such as respect for the classroom and following the routine.  This area looks at how well they play with others and how conflict is resolved.
●  Language and literacy development in how they express themselves with words, answer questions and ask questions.  It also looks at reading and writing.

Health Services

The health component provides evaluation of medical and dental needs.  Reviews children's files to insure an on going source of continuous healthcare, and preventative care.  We also provide hearing and vision screenings.  Heights and weights are measured twice a year.  We identify and provide nutrition education and counseling for families.

Special Education

Head Start makes ten percent of it's enrollment opportunities available to children with disabilities.  Special Education services are provided to all Head Start children in need of special services.  Special Education services include, but are not limited to: cognitive, social, self-help skills, speech and language, physical therapy, and occupational therapy.  All services are provided at Head Start.
