As the total development agreement between Geary County Schools and the City of Junction City for construction at the new Junction City High School moves forward, which includes the creation of Blue Jay Way south road, a water main, looped fire protection line, and sanitary sewer main extension, the final district expenses for the project were found to be lower than originally planned.
Since its groundbreaking in April of 2019, the Geary County community has observed the creation of the $132 million, 437,000 square-foot Junction City High School. This past Saturday, the public was able to experience a monumental moment during the ribbon cutting of the facility.

Army veteran and registered dietitian Maria McConville, spouse of Chief of Staff of the Army Gen. James C. McConville, visited Junction City High School on Thursday to tour the new facility and talk with district personnel about the benefits it will bring to the students, as well as the unique academic structure of the high school’s four career academies: Freshman Success Academy, Fine Arts and Human Services Academy, Business Information and Technology Academy, and Science Engineering and Technology Academy.

A team of inspectors, mobilized by Junction City Fire Chief Terry Johnson, last week conducted the final inspections of the new Junction City High School.
Representatives from Geary County Schools USD 475, Junction City, SJCF Architecture, and Hutton construction held a recent meeting to kick off plans for the final inspection of the new Junction City High School. Fort Riley Garrison Commander Col. William McKannay was also in attendance.
