2020-21 Way Forward Guide

back to school

The 2020-21 Way Forward Guide to Learning and School Safety Operations is a document that covers all of the plans, changes, adjustments, safety measures, and protocols that apply to the 2020-21 school year at USD 475 schools.

This guide is for all schools, parents, and teachers. While this guide covers all aspects of the school year, schools will supplement this plan with their own School Safety Plans. School’s will release these plans on Monday, August 24, 2020, and each school’s plan can be found on each school’s website.

The Way Forward Guide is a living document. It will be changed, updated, and adjusted, as necessary, throughout the school year. Parents and staff will be notified when the district makes changes to the plans and procedures in this document.

This document was originally updated on September 29, 2020.

The updates include revised recommendations for when students may return to school after a non-COVID related illness (24 hours of no fever without the assistance of fever-reducing medications), the removal of the Remote Learning Logs, added information regarding the Remote Learning Assurances document, replaced the log with the assurances document in the Appendix, and added information regarding attendance requirements for remote learners.

The document was again updated on April 30, 2021, to reflect the Kansas Legislature passing Senate Bill 40.
