The Board of Education will be holding 2 public hearings to receive public comments regarding the potential closure of Franklin and Grandview Elementary schools. These meetings will be held at each respective school, and Board members will listen to comments from the public regarding the impact of closing either school. The hearing schedule is as follows:
Monday, July 13, 2020 at 6:30 pm at Franklin Elem
Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at 6:30 pm at Grandview Elem
Due to the additional limits placed on gatherings by the Geary County Health Department on June 24, 2020, no more than 50 people will be able to attend each hearing in person. Those who can not attend are welcome to email comments to be read aloud during the hearings to PublicHearing@USD475.org. Please note which school hearing you would like your message shared in the subject line.
Speakers will be limited to 3 minutes each to ensure everyone has a chance to share comments.
Members of the public are encouraged to wear masks if they decide to attend.
The Board will hold a special meeting on July 16, 2020 at 5:30 pm, the Mary E. Devin Center to discuss and potentially vote on the school closing issue.
Both hearings and the special Board Meeting will be live streamed to the district’s social media pages.
