Winter Weather Day Recovery Plan

Due to the increased amount of potentially dangerous inclement winter weather days this year, JCHS seniors and elementary school students will be short on school time, a requirement of the State of Kansas. In order to meet this requirement, USD 475 has approved and will implement the following plan.

Elementary Schools

Elementary schools will add ten minutes to the end of their school day starting on March 18, 2019, following Spring Break. By following this plan, elementary school students will not need to make up additional days of school at the end of the year.

Elementary Schools (Junction City, Grandview, Milford, and other) – School now ends at 3:25 PM

Fort Riley Elementary School – School now ends at 3:10 PM

Seitz Elementary School – School new ends at 3:40 PM

Junction City High School

Junction City High School will host Parent Teacher Conferences for all grade levels from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday, March 8, 2019. JCHS will also hold mandatory graduation practice for JCHS seniors only on Friday, May 17, 2019. By following this plan, JCHS seniors will not need to extend their school day or make up additional days of school at the end of the year.

Students attending the Larry Dixon Center will follow the JCHS plan as appropriate.

Early Childhood Center students are not impacted.

Junction City Middle School and Fort Riley Middle School are not impacted.

If additional inclement winter weather days are taken this school year, the aforementioned plan may be modified.
