JUNCTION CITY, KAN. – Due to potentially hazardous winter weather, Geary County Schools USD 475 will be on a two-hour delay February 22, 2018. School start times, as well as bus route pickups, will be two hours later than normal. For example, a bus route pickup that is normally 7:20 AM will be 9:20 AM on February 22nd as a result of the delay. The school day will end at the normal time and after school bus routes and programs or events will not be impacted (unless otherwise stated by the program coordinator).

This two-hour delay includes the workday for staff, except those staff members identified by building principals who will report at normal time (supervisors will make these notifications). Staff with additional questions should contact their supervisor.

Due to this delay USD 475 will be unable to accommodate breakfast service for students. School lunches are scheduled as normal.

USD 475 Early Childhood Morning Program and the Boys and Girls Morning Program will be canceled.

The decision regarding delayed start times is made by the Superintendent of Schools or his designee. The Superintendent uses community partners and the best information available at the time to make these decisions. The main focus of USD 475 is using available information to make a decision that best suits the safety of students and staff.

When school is in session during inclement weather, the final decision whether or not a child should attend school or stay at home is the responsibility of the parent or guardian.

Geary County Schools apologizes for any inconvenience this delay may cause and will make any updates necessary in the event new information is available.
